Ocean Shores Surf Rescue Team saves 13 year old girl

June 4, 2012

The Ocean Shores Surf Rescue Team were able to save a 13 year old Federal way girl over the weekend as she was being pulled out by the current. Ocean Shores Deputy Police Chief Russ Fitts tells KXRO that just before 4pm on Sunday Officer Iverson was on patrol near the North Jetty when he saw the girl in distress. Iverson is a member of the Surf Rescue Team and as he began to put on his equipment other team members responded with personal watercraft. The girl began to go underwater as the other team members arrived, but Officer Iverson was able to get to the girl and bring her to shore.

She was treated by the Ocean Shores Fire Department and transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital. The girl had been down at the beach with family members for the weekend.
