Public meetings scheduled regarding exchange of state trust lands
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources will conduct two evening hearings to receive public comments about a proposed exchange of state trust lands with timber company Green Crow.
June 27, DNR will meet in Port Angeles, and June 28th in Hoquiam. The Hoquiam meeting will be at 6pm the 28th in the City Council Chambers at City Hall.
In the proposal, known as the Foothills Exchange, DNR would trade about 6,800 acres of trust land with Green Crow and receive up to 9,600 acres of Green Crow property in return. The exchange is intended to consolidate management of state trust lands.
A summary of the testimony will be presented to the Board of Natural Resources at a regularly scheduled meeting before making a final decision.
More information about the hearings and the proposed exchange is on the DNR website: http://www.dnr.wa.gov.
