A man hit by a train near Elma has been identified

The man struck by a train near Elma on Thursday has been identified as 43 year old Charles E. Jenkins of the Elma area.
Jenkins is believed to have been sleeping on the train tracks outside of Elma early on Thursday when he was struck. The train crew said they sounded their horn, but it was too late to avoid colliding with the man.
It is not known why Jenkins chose to lay down on the train tracks.
