Elma shooting leads to arrest

July 11, 2012

The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s office arrested a 40 year old Elma man after he fired a shotgun into the side of a car at his home, sending a woman to the hospital. Chief Criminal Deputy Dave Pimentel says that a 36 year old woman was at the home of an ex-boyfriend on Filly Lane near the Grays Harbor Fairgrounds to retrieve some personal items when the Elma man fired a gun. Pellets from the blast struck the car, and a pellet hit the woman behind the right ear.

The woman was taken to Mark Reed Hospital where the pellet was removed. The other passenger in the car was not injured.

Deputies arrested the Elma man at the home without incident and the shotgun was confiscated. He was booked into Grays Harbor County Jail for Assault with a Firearm, Domestic Violence, and Reckless Endangerment.
