Retail sales up statewide, down locally

The Washington State Department of Revenue reported yesterday that statewide taxable retail sales increased 4.7% to $24.1 billion during the first quarter of 2012 compared to the same period in 2011.
In Grays Harbor, retail sales were down -4.5%, and in Aberdeen retail sales were down -12.3%.
The highest retail sales in Aberdeen came from “General Merchandise Stores” at over $15 million. Motor vehicles and parts, topping $14 million came in second, with construction following with $11 million.
Pacific County saw a -.5% decrease in retail sales in the same time period.
