Hoquiam bridge closure not scheduled to last as long as feared

July 24, 2012

The Hoquiam City Council met on Monday evening and put to rest some of the rumors about the upcoming Simpson bridge closure.

The bridge closure was brought up late in the Hoquiam City Council meeting last night with worries that it could last up to four months. City Administrator Brian Shay discounted that saying it would only last four weeks for the month of October.

The Washington State Department of Transportation will release details and fact sheets regarding the project. The City of Hoquiam says that they will be working with businesses that might be affected by the bridge closure.

In 2008, rehabilitating the Simpson Ave Bridge required a 10-week closure. Motorists detoured using the Riverside Bridge.
