Large metal barge floating off Grays Harbor coast
July 24, 2012
As possible tsunami debris continues to inundate Washington shorelines, officials are currently watching a large object off of the coast of Grays Harbor.
Grays Harbor County Emergency Management Deputy Director Chuck Wallace told KXRO that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Coast Guard have been watching the object. Wallace says it appears to be a metal barge approximately 16×25 in size and does look to contain some invasive species.
Officials don’t when it could wash ashore, but it looks to be “sooner rather than later.”
Tsunami debris already arriving on Washington shores includes appliances, buoys, and the boat that washed ashore Cape Disappointment State Park in Pacific County.
