Cyclist likely to be cited by police after being struck by car

July 27, 2012

Aberdeen Police Officers were called to North Washington Street this week for a vehicle vs. bicycle collision.

Officers learned a 42 year old Aberdeen man was riding his bicycle in an alley when he attempted to cross Washington St, colliding with a vehicle heading northbound on Washington. This vehicle, a 1996 Dodge Caravan, was driven by a 62 year old Hoquiam resident.

The rider was ejected from his bicycle, striking his head on the ground. He was not wearing a helmet at the time. He was transported by the Aberdeen Fire Department to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital. His current medical condition is unknown.

It is likely that the bicycle rider will be cited for failing to yield the right of way from an alley and for not wearing a helmet.
