Paint the Corridor has started in Grays Harbor

July 30, 2012

The third annual Paint the Corridor project kicked off on Saturday. Over 50 people gathered to pick up supplies, get a quick lesson on proper painting technique, and share a cup of coffee on their way to beautifying the corridors of Aberdeen and Hoquiam.

Paint the Corridor is a project founded in 2010 by Grays Harbor Vision 2020 in partnership with NeighborWorks of Grays Harbor and Kelly-Moore Paints. The group has painted 48 homes at no cost to the home owner with the help of over 400 volunteers and plans to paint 17 more houses this year.

Paul Stritmatter, a local attorney, offered the idea for the program and has been a major donor since its inception. “I love this community and want us to put our best face forward for those of us who work, live, and visit Grays Harbor County,” said Stritmatter. “It is a matter of pride in our place.”

“We have Teams representing banks and businesses, churches and non-profit organizations; it is a real community effort,” says Dave Murnen, Director of NeighborWorks of Grays Harbor.

Teams will be painting houses locally throughout August and September.
