Burglary in progress leads to arrest in Pacific County

August 15, 2012

The Pacific County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a 38 year old Westport man on Tuesday after a neighbor reported a burglary in progress. Just before 11:30 Tuesday morning, the communications center got a call from a resident that said a man was burglarizing a home. The man said he and other witnesses attempted to barricade the suspect inside the home.

A deputy, with assistance from the Shoalwater Bay Tribal Police Chief, got to the home and found the neighbor had pushed a picnic table against the door to the home. The suspect was able to escape the scene, but was found soon after. The 38 year old Westport man admitted to the burglary and items taken from the home were found in his possession. There were also items found on the scene belonging to the man.

The Westport man was arrested and transported to the Pacific County Jail.
