House fire in 700 block of 1st St in Hoquiam

Hoquiam firefighters, with assistance from the Aberdeen and Cosmopolis Fire Departments, are battling a house fire in Hoquiam.

When officials arrived on scene the multi unit home was fully involved said Hoquiam Captain Matt Miller.

The fire is believed to have started in the rear of the building in a kitchen. Residents on scene were able to escape the home with no injuries reported. The residents were able to get multiple pets from the home.

It is believed that at least 5 people are displaced. Red Cross is on scene to help the residents. 3 pets were saved from the ground floor by residents and responders. Reports are there may have been in excess of 10 cats within the building.

The house is believed to be a complete loss.
