The $3.6 Million Lotto winner is local, and you might know who they are.
Over the weekend a ticket bought in Aberdeen for the Washington State Lottery won $3.6 million. KXRO received a call from the Lottery office from the winners of the jackpot, Roger and Darla Sauer.
The couple has been married since 1974. Roger is a retired meat cutter who after 30 years who went back to school to get his teaching certificate and is now an English Teacher at Elma HS. Darla has been involved in the East Grays Harbor Relay of Life since the inception.
Darla told KXRO that every week since the state started the game in 1984 Roger has purchased a ticket with the same numbers, but she says that they can’t even remember why they chose those numbers.
Darla says that they do not have any extravagant plans for the money yet, but that “Some of it will go to Relay for Life of course.” She also said that they plan to give a portion to the Brady Fire Hall.
This ticket was purchased from the Central Park 7-11.
The Lottery’s flagship Jackpot game was introduced in July 1984. Since that time, players have been paid over $1 billion in prizes. This includes the highest Lotto Jackpot ever of $32,000,000 won on October 25, 2000.
