First female firefighter hired in Aberdeen history

Today marked the first time in the 122 history of the Aberdeen Fire Department that a female firefighter has joined the ranks. The department announced that Monica Myers of Montesano is the department’s newest member and first woman to be hired.
Myers is a graduate of the Tacoma Community College and soon to be state certified paramedic. She had previously worked as a volunteer lieutenant for the Montesano Fire Department as well as Olympic Ambulance in Thurston County.
Monica lives in Montesano with her husband, Hoquiam Police Chief Jeff Myers.
