After Loggers’ Playday removes themselves from parade, fundraising is needed

August 29, 2012

Following the decision by the Loggers’ Playday Committee to pull their funding of the Hoquiam Elks parade downtown, the organization is looking to raise funds. The parade name has been changed this year to the Hoquiam Elks Grand Parade on Loggers’ Playday, but starting next year all mention of Loggers’ Playday will be removed from the parade as requested by the annual games.

Parade chair Bonnie Cable says they have some ground to make up. Normally, Loggers’ Playday would donate $6,500 to the parade, although they chose not to donate after the Elks announced they will keep the same parade route used since the closure of the Simpson Ave Bridge.

Cable says they will be holding a spaghetti feed dinner & dessert auction tonight at 6pm to raise money to support the parade on Saturday September 8th.
