Aberdeen police searching for suspect in armed home invasion

September 19, 2012

On Tuesday, Aberdeen police responded to a report of a man with a gun entering a home in the 1500 Block of Cherry St. The suspect had reportedly attempted to take the purse of one of the occupants.

When officers arrived they learned that the man, wearing a t-shirt pulled over his face, entered a bedroom with what appeared to be a long barreled pistol or rifle in his hand. Once inside he made contact with a 42 year old Aberdeen woman and demanded she give him money. The suspect grabbed onto her purse and started to leave the bedroom when the woman wrestling the purse back from him. The suspect then ran from the home while the victim yelled for other family members inside the home.

As the suspect fled the home he pointed the gun at another resident, a 55 year old Aberdeen man, and demanded his wallet. When the man refused, the suspect jumped a fence and disappeared.

K-9 officers attempted to track the suspect, but were not successful.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 20 years of age, 5-11 with a thin build. He was further described as having collar length hair and was wearing dark clothing with a hat and scarf.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Aberdeen Police Department at 360-533-3180.
