Rod Run emphasis ruled a success

September 21, 2012

The 29th Annual Rod Run to the End of the World has grown in the number of spectators over the past two decades. Over 800 classic vehicles met for the two day event, and an estimated 8000 people came out for the weekend.

In numbers just released from Pacific County law enforcement, they are calling last weekend’s Rod Run successful, with no major incidents to report over the series of events.

They say that although the event has rules regarding alcohol consumption on the grounds, often the problems occur after the festivities wrap up and spectators gather along the streets.

This year, local law enforcement including the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office, Long Beach Police Department, and Washington State Patrol say that over the weekend, there were no major traffic incidents reported.

Officers made over 410 traffic stops, 13 DUI arrests, 11 arrests for drug possession, one misdemeanor and one felony arrest.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife, local police, and nearby counties assisted with the emphasis.
