WDFW hosts public meetings to discuss sportfishing rules

September 21, 2012

The Department of Fish and Wildlife will be accepting public comments through December 15 on their proposed changes to the state’s sportfishing rules.

WDFW has scheduled six public meetings in October to discuss with the public the proposed rules, which would affect various fisheries around the state. Locally, the department will have a meeting October 10 from 6-8pm at the Montesano City Hall.

Craig Burley, fish management division manager for WDFW, said people can submit comments by using a new online form available on the website.

Burley said”The ability to submit comments through the website is one of several changes we have made to the process to make it more user-friendly”.

To review the proposed rules visit http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regulations/rule_proposals/. Printed copies of the proposals and comment forms are available by contacting WDFW’s Fish Program at (360) 902-2672.
