High speed pursuit in Aberdeen leads to accident at Alder and Fourth Streets

October 4, 2012

Aberdeen Police Corporal Green was on patrol on Wednesday in the area of Wishkah and Alder streets when he saw a Honda Accord, which resembled a car reported stolen on Tuesday, driving on Alder. Corporal Green saw the driver and recognized him from previous cases.

The Accord continued north on Alder and then turned into an alley and turned into a store parking lot. This was when dispatch confirmed that the vehicle was reported stolen. When he attempted to stop the car it continued to speed on Michigan Street as it drove through a stop sign.

Officer Green lost sight of the suspect as he drove through intersections, and a short time later the suspect vehicle collided with another car in the intersection of Fourth and Alder. The stolen 1991 Honda Accord struck a red 1997 Ford pick up driven by a 64 year old Ocean Shores woman.

The Aberdeen Fire Department was called to treat the female driver with pain in her shoulder and legs following the accident before being transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital.

Aberdeen Officers will be working with Hoquiam PD officers in the area of Alder and 4th at approximately 2:30pm Thursday to conduct additional investigation into the collision.

It is anticipated that Alder will be closed at 4th Street requiring a detour. Drivers should anticipate possible traffic delays in that area.
