Summit Pacific tree planting postponed due to dry weather

October 5, 2012

Due to recommendations from Weyerhaeuser and Elma School District’s FFA leaders, the tree planting at Summit Pacific Medical Center, scheduled for October 13th, has been postponed due to the extreme dry conditions. The tree planting will be rescheduled for a later date, likely in November. The facility will issue a release once the new date has been set.

“We want to ensure that the trees are planted under the best conditions possible in order to give them the best chance of survival,” said Mike Rand, Director of Facilities “We appreciate the community response we received about helping with this project and hope this delay will not affect participation.”

Local boy scout troops and students from Elma High School’s FFA Club are working with Summit Pacific Medical Center and Mark Reed Health Care District to help plant over 3,000 tree seedlings donated by Weyerhaeuser.

Anyone with questions about his project can call Lauren Day, Community Relations, at 360-495-3244.
