Fire consumes empty building at Jeffries and Simpson in Aberdeen

October 7, 2012

Smoke could be seen from miles away as a fire this afternoon completely consumed the former location of Jeff’s Used Tires and Trohimovich Volvo.

Battalion Chief Rich Malizia told KXRO that the fire was first reported as a grass fire in the alley. When firefighters arrived the building was fully involved.

The building has been empty after the tire business moved their location to Hoquiam. Residents say that it was used as storage since then.

Embers fell onto the roof of Duffy’s Restaurant next door, but firefighters were able to douse them before the roof caught fire. Crews were searching the business to make sure no other embers were present.
