Hoquiam House Fire
The Hoquiam Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 600 block of Kuhn Avenue in Hoquiam today. Hoquiam Fire Investigator Tim Smith says the house fire was caused by an open flame and there was absolutely no sign of meth at all contrary to early speculations.
Smith said the resident was asleep when the fire started but was able to escape with only a burned hand and a burn on his face. The resident was taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital to be treated for those burns.
The Hoquiam Fire Department was able to limit the damage to the front of the house, but both the first and second floors were involved when they arrived. Neighbors reported an explosion. There was a small ruptured propane tank on the scene but the full investigation is still on-going.
