Graduation Requirements Changed in Aberdeen
October 17, 2012
The Aberdeen School Board passed a new policy that changed the graduation requirements. Aberdeen Superintendent Dr. Thomas Opstad says the changes are state mandated and have an increase in standardized testing. Dr. Opstad said the extra testing could be easier to handle if they had more flexibility with their state budget.
Aberdeen School Board President Doug Smith says that he believes the students should be challenged but that some students have better situations than others and that he would feel more comfortable with the requirements if he knew they had enough support.
The graduation requirements are different for each of the next four years graduating classes.
