Utility rates set to increase in Aberdeen

November 15, 2012

The Aberdeen City Council on Wednesday voted to increase utility rates for residents in 2013 following rate increases coming to the city. The council voted and passed 4 separate bills at their meeting last night regarding the rates.

Water, sewer, stormwater, and waste rates will all be going up. An EMS rate increase is also planned, but was not on the agenda.

Garbage rates are scheduled to raise 3.8%, water 5%, stormwater 8%, sewer 15%, and EMS 18%. This translates to an average net increase of just over $10 a month for the average customer.
