County Commissioners Pass Levy Shift

December 11, 2012

The Grays Harbor County Commissioners took an extra week to hear more comments and look into to the details, but yesterday they passed their levy shift.

The Commissioners heard testimony from Montesano Mayor Ken Estes who read a resolution that is set to be passed at the Montesano City Council meeting. Estes summarized by saying that the City of Montesano would not even pass a tax increase of one percent to its citizens.

Commissioner Terry Willis listed numerous cuts that the county has already made and asked what else could they have to cut if they did not continue with the levy shift.

The levy shift passed unanimously but Commissioner Herb Welch said it was with a heavy heart.
