Residents Have Limited Time to Register for Special Elections

January 11, 2013

The state’s General Election may have been just two months ago, but it’s voter registration time if you want to vote in upcoming special elections.

A number of school, fire, EMS, park, cemetery and transportation districts throughout Washington will hold elections on February 12 to vote on special levies. This includes a special fire levy in Hoquiam for their ladder truck and a tax to fund transportation improvements in Aberdeen.

Thirty-two of Washington’s 39 counties have a special election that day.

For the February elections, Monday, Jan. 14, is the last day to register to vote or update voter registration info by mail or online. Feb. 4 is the deadline for in-person registration for new Washington voters. You have to go to your county elections office to register in person.
