Coast Guard Suspends Search for Missing Fisherman

January 17, 2013

The Coast Guard has suspended their search for a fisherman that fell overboard from a commercial fishing vessel approximately eight miles northwest of Queets on Wednesday.

The search involved Coast Guard air and boat crews from Grays Harbor and Astoria, as well as other commercial fishing vessels in the area. Together they covered more than 91 square miles during a period of more than seven hours.

The Coast Guard says that they have suspended the search after they saturated the area with as many responders as possible, and used as many assets that they had at their disposal, without finding the missing fisherman.

If information is received that the person reported missing may have survived, the Coast Guard can resume their search.
