High Speed Pursuit Within Hoquiam and Aberdeen

January 28, 2013

On Sunday, Aberdeen and Hoquiam Officers were led on a high speed chase through the towns.

Hoquiam Police Sergeant Dayton attempted to stop a 1996 Honda Accord just after 3pm on Sunday for a traffic violation. The driver drove away from the officer and into Aberdeen.

Aberdeen Police joined the pursuit on Simpson Ave. The suspect drove at a high speed and ran through numerous traffic stops. Spike strips were set up at numerous locations, although the suspect would turn in a different direction to avoid the strips.

The suspect then drove through the grass at Sam Benn Park before leading officers back towards Hoquiam and down Scammel Hill. The vehicle then turned the wrong way down Simpson Avenue, and officers broke off the pursuit for the safety of the public.

The Honda was later found abandoned near the Port Industrial Road. Officers quickly got multiple reports from residents and the suspect was seen on foot on Rice Street, near Morgan. Aberdeen Officers arrested the suspect without incident on Morgan St.

The 23 year old Hoquiam man was booked into Hoquiam City Jail and the car impounded. Following the arrest, the owner of the vehicle reported it stolen.
