Willapa Valley FCCLA Members Earn Their Way to State

Six Willapa Valley FCCLA members competed in Region 2 STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) on February 14 in Toledo.

Chad Wheeler, 12th grade, presented his Focus on Children project: Break the Code of Silence”, an anti-bullying campaign. Jade Wheeler, 9th grade, entered her Polar Fleece Express project in the Chapter Service Project Display category. Chahayla Barton, 11th, and Katie Sisk, 9th, gave their Illustrated Talk on “Above the Influence”. Taylor Thompson and Shania Barton, both 8th graders, told the judges about their Suicide Prevention Illustrated Talk. All participants earned over 90 points out of 100 to earn the right to compete at the Washington State Leadership Conference in Wenatchee, April 10-12th.

State officer Brooke Harden evaluated Chapter Showcase manuals and displayed with other Region 2 students and advisers.

Washington State FCCLA Region 2 Vice President, Chahayla Barton, planned and facilitated the entire meeting and competition. Fifty-five participants and evaluators attended this event.
