Aberdeen Woman Bites Hoquiam Store Clerk

February 22, 2013

A woman bit a store employee’s hand when he tried to stop her from shoplifting beer from a Hoquiam store.

Hoquiam officers were called to a business in the 200 block of K Street for a report of a shoplifting incident where the clerk was assaulted.

The clerk told officers a woman came into the store and ran out with 4 cans of beer. The clerk gave chase and was able to catch up to the 18-year old Aberdeen woman. As he was holding onto the suspect, the woman bit the clerk’s hand and he let go before she fled through a nearby yard. Officers were able to get a witness report of the possible location of the suspect in the 300 block of K Street. The resident told police that she was there, but left through the back door just before police arrived.

Officers were able to get a home address for the woman and located her a short time later. She was arrested for Robbery and booked into Grays Harbor County Jail.

The store clerk did sustain an injury to his hand and was treated by Hoquiam Fire Paramedics at the scene.
