Aberdeen Academic Calendar Set for Next Two Years

March 6, 2013

Aberdeen Superintendant Dr. Thomas Opstad proposed a new academic calendar for the 2013-2014 and 2014-1015 school years at last night’s school board.

The calendar for the next two years includes the mid-winter break that was used this year and has built in snow days. The new academic calendar also gives the district a chance to get enrollment rates up because they are starting a day later than usual. School will begin the Wednesday after Labor Day instead of that Tuesday.   The academic calendar passed unanimously.

The new calendar will also possibly include an early start for both seniors and freshmen. The early start is set to help seniors prepare for their senior year. The freshmen early start is for a more formal orientation than those done in the past.
