Drowsy Driving Causes East County Accident

April 1, 2013

Falling asleep at the wheel caused an Elma man and 3 children off the road and into a cable barrier on Saturday.

The Washington State Patrol said that on Saturday, a 31 year old Elma man was driving on Highway 12 outside of Brady when the accident occurred. The man fell asleep at the wheel, that’s when his 1994 Toyota Celica left the road and collided with the cable. 3 children, ages 13, 9, and 9 were also in the car.

The man was taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital following the accident. None of the children were injured.

All 4 were wearing seatbelts at the time. The Elma man was charged with negligent driving.
