Fire and explosion in Aberdeen is the 2nd in recent weeks

May 7, 2013

The Aberdeen Fire Department responded to a fire and an explosion in the 1300 block of West 2nd Street last night.

Crews arrived to find debris burning in the back yard. The fire was not threatening the home, and was easily extinguished.

There were no injuries, and the cause is still under investigation.

Battalion Chief Bill Mayne says that this is the second fire to occur in the neighborhood within the last 12 days, under similar circumstances.

Aberdeen Fire Department encourages residents to secure any outbuildings and combustible material.
