Man arrested for sexually assaulting unconscious woman

May 13, 2013

Aberdeen Officers were sent to the Guesthouse Suites over the weekend and were told that a man was seen dragging a heavily intoxicated woman under the Heron Street bridge.

Officers were sent to a concealed area inside the brush near the Inn and bridge. Officers saw movement coming from under a sleeping bag at the location.

Officers found a 39 year old man having alleged sexual contact with an unconscious 42 year old Native American woman. The officers had to tell the man numerous times to step out of the wooded area.

Officers were initially unable to wake up the woman. When they did wake her she appeared very intoxicated. She told officers that she was unaware of anyone having any physical contact with her and that no one had her consent.

The man had initially provided the officers a false name. Officers arrested him for Indecent Liberties and Making a False Statement to a Public Servant.

The suspect has an arrest warrant from Oregon for a parole violation from a previous sexual assault charge. He was identified as a Registered Sex Offender out of Oregon.

The suspect is currently in the City of Aberdeen jail.
