Aberdeen Schools will see changes in leadership

June 27, 2013

The Aberdeen School District will be going through some changes in their administration in the Fall.

Aberdeen Superintendent Thomas Opstad announced these changes are effective July 1.

Rocky Roquin (RO-CAN), current principal at Aberdeen High School, and Sherri Northington, the current principal at Harbor High School, will now become co-principals at Aberdeen High School.

Derek Cook, currently an assistant principal at Aberdeen High School, will move to Harbor High School as their interim principal.

James Bowers, currently an assistant principal at Aberdeen High School, will be moving out of the district. Bowers has accepted a position at Centralia High School and his position will not be filled.

Dr. Opstad said “In making these changes, I have reflected carefully on how to position our district for a financially secure future during this period of lower enrollment while also putting the needs of students and staff at the forefront of our planning,”.

Dr. Opstad also announced that the district is also adding a fourth counselor at Aberdeen High School. This will make it possible for each counselor to be assigned a class and remain with that class through their high school career.
