Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Deputy causes crash on SR109

July 9, 2013

State Route 109 was blocked for over 4 hours after a Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Deputy collided with another car.

Monday night, the 55 year old Montesano man was driving a marked Grays Harbor County patrol car north on 109 when he crossed the center line. A 30 year old Aberdeen woman was driving south in her 2003 Kia Sportage when she was struck by the county vehicle.

The Washington State Patrol said that the county employee was not wearing his seat belt when the accident occurred.

Traffic was rerouted around the scene for 4 hours as emergency crews cleaned the area and officers conducted their investigation.

Both vehicles were totaled and the drivers were transported to Grays Harbor Community Hospital.
