Military training to occur in Pacific County Wednesday morning

July 9, 2013

The Pacific County Emergency Management Agency warns residents not to be alarmed by military training along the Long Beach Peninsula.

According to PCEM, Joint Base Lewis McChord will be conducting training in Pacific County tomorrow morning. JBLM plans to fly MH 47 Chinook aircraft over the Peninsula just before sunset and 3:00 a.m.

JBLM crews are using the area for training on a simulation of threats to aircraft. As well as the aircraft, there will be Air Force personnel on the ground carrying what may appear to be large weapons simulating shooting the aircraft down.

This is planned to occur somewhere between Ocean Park and Long Beach.
