BARN BASH FOR FIRE DISTRICT 16
Grays Harbor Fire District #16 is a very small rural fire district protecting Copalis Crossing that almost had to close their doors due to many reasons, but local residents stepped up and have become volunteers to help protect their families, friends, neighbors and visitors to the area.
Now they are facing a major challenge of having out dated and unsafe firefighter safety equipment that they have to have in order to respond and help the people that call and reply on them. This includes their Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, the air systems that you see firefighters wear when they go into a structure. Even the bunker gear that they wear is out dated and must be taken out of service per federal and state regulations.
The department is holding their Barn Bash fundraiser this Saturday from 6-midnight at the Cottonwood Ranch on the Ocean Beach Road. The event will feature a pig roast, poker tournament, raffles, and music by Humptulips. Tickets are $25 with children 10 and under $10.
