MINIMUM-WAGE EARNERS GET A RAISE IN ’12

September 30, 2011

The Department of Labor & Industries announced that Washington’s minimum wage will increase to $9.04 per hour beginning Jan. 1, 2012 – a 4.258 percent increase

In Washington (and 9 other states), the minimum wage is tied to the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPIW).

The CPI-W, which is used in this calculation, is a measure of the average change in prices over time of goods and services purchased by urban wage earners and clerical workers.
