POLL SAYS NEARLY TWO-THIRDS OF WASHINGTONIANS LIKELY TO SUPPORT SALES TAX HIKE

November 29, 2011

A recent poll says 64 percent of Washingtonians would likely support a temporary sales tax increase to mitigate cuts to education and social services.

The Elway Research poll was taken on November 21 and 22 and found 43 percent of respondents were “certainly willing” and 21 percent were “probably willing” to back a point five percent sales tax hike proposed by Gov. Chris Gregoire.

The Poll’s margin of error was plus or minus 5 percent.
