2011 GRAYS HARBOR CORONER REPORT

February 17, 2012

The Grays Harbor County Coroner’s Office released their report of 2011 deaths within Grays Harbor. In 2011 a total of 641 deaths were reported to the Coroner’s Office. This is an increase of 29 deaths from 2010 and the highest reported death toll in at least 5 years.

Coroner Dan Burns in his report said that despite the added public attention to suicides locally, 2011 saw a drop in the suicide rate through the coroner’s office, and a drop in the 5 year average.

The majority of reported deaths for 2011 were from natural causes or expected under hospice care.

This would include all deaths within the county with the exception of registered Quinault Native Americans who die on Quinault Tribal lands. The Quinault Nation has their own Coroner system.
