21 year old Melissa Hornback of Montesano was crowned Miss Grays Harbor 2012 Saturday night at the 7th Street Theatre Hoquiam. Currently enrolled at Pacific Lutheran University pursuing a degree in music,  her platform issue is Childhood Obesity Awareness. Also, the Miss Grays Harbor crown is familiar to the Hornback family as her mother Debbie was Miss Grays Harbor 1982. For winning the crown, Melissa receives a $1500 scholarship as well as entry into the Miss Washington Pageant which is a precursor to Miss America. 1st Runner up was 19 year old Claire Brunke of Aberdeen who won a $500 scholarship donated by Grays Harbor Radio, 2nd Runner up was 21 year old Lacey Tackett of Westport who won a $300 scholarship donated by Bank of the Pacific and  Miss Congeniality, which is voted on by the contestants, went to 22 year old Meghan Anderson which is a $300 scholarship donated by the South Beach Vision Clinic. About $6,000 in scholarships were awarded.  The Miss America program is the largest contributor of scholarships for women in the nation at $45 Million.

Interview Award $200, Clarie Brunke. (Donated by Dana and Maryanne Larson)

Empowering Women award $500, Claire Brunke. (Donated and by Dr. Farrar and Grays Harbor Imaging)

Talent award $200, Melissa Hornback. (Donated by High Impact Dance Academy)

Living Your Platform award $200, Claire Brunke. (Donated by Aberdeen Rotary)

Scholastic Achievement award $300, Melissa Hornback. (Donated by Keith and Carol Kruger)

All contestants received a $200 scholarship for competing.
