Free CERT training at Grays Harbor College

May 30, 2012

Grays Harbor County Emergency Management will be offering free Community Emergency Response Training, or CERT, at Grays Harbor College.

CERTs are formed by members of a neighborhood or workplace, who want to be better prepared for the hazards that threaten their communities.

This course is rarely offered and trains participants in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. All training is open to individuals and to groups.

CERTs are considered “Good Samaritans” and covered under the Volunteer Protection Act. CERT volunteers do not have any authority beyond serving as “Good Samaritan” when helping others.

The 20 hour training class will be offered starting Friday June 08.

If you would like to attend, please contact Grays Harbor Emergency Management at GHCDEM@co.grays-harbor.wa.us or call (360) 249-3911.
