Man drives in wrong lane, ends up in ditch outside of Elma

A man drove in the wrong lane for a ¼ mile before ending up in the ditch. The Washington State Patrol says the 28 year old Aberdeen man was driving on Highway 12, 4 miles east of Elma, on Tuesday when the accident occurred.

The man was driving for approximately ¼ of a mile before he realized he was in the wrong lane. When he overcorrected back into his lane, the 1995 Honda Odyssey he was driving ended up in the ditch.

The driver was sent to St. Peter’s Hospital with head injuries following the crash. State Patrol says that the man had drugs or alcohol in his system. His van was totaled on scene, no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

The accident is under investigation.
