Seemingly abandoned home burns in South Aberdeen

October 6, 2012

Aberdeen Firefighters responded to a house fire this afternoon just after 1:30 in South Aberdeen. When they arrived, the home was fully involved. Witnesses on scene say that the house had been abandoned for some time and children had been playing inside, but Fire Chief Tom Hubbard said that was unconfirmed.

Power lines had been cut to the home at the corner of Curtis and Decatur and the area surrounding the home was unkept. Resident Amber Wessel was able to capture a photo of the home just days prior using her cell phone. That photo is below.

Hoquiam Fire responded as well through an automatic response, but they were dismissed from the scene as AFD knocked down the flames.
