Aberdeen Police car struck by drunk driver

Aberdeen Officer Parkinson was on his way to a call when his patrol car was struck from behind Sunday evening. The officer was stopped for a red light at West First and Alder when his patrol car was rear ended by a 2005 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 39 year old Aberdeen man.

When the officer went to contact the man he could see signs of intoxication. The man was arrested for he was checked at the scene for intoxication and eventually arrested for Driving Under the Influence and transported to APD for processing and kept overnight.

The driver gave two breath samples that were both over .30 blood alcohol content, almost 4 times the legal limit.

The damage to the police car is estimated at $2,500 dollars. The truck appeared to have minor front end damage.

Officer Parkinson reported soreness to his neck and back. The suspect did not report any injuries to officers.
