Great Washington ShakeOut only 1 week away
We are only one week away from The Great WA ShakeOut. On Thursday, October 18th at 10:18am, this radio station along with Grays Harbor County Emergency Management and businesses and agencies across the Twin Harbors will join together for the earthquake drill.
At 10:18am, the AHAB tsunami siren will sound to mark the drill. Residents are invited to use this time to “Drop, Cover, and Hold On”.
The city of Hoquiam says they anticipate using the drill to move vehicles and equipment to high ground at the city cemetery, establish a city Emergency Operations Center and test radio communications between the departments.
Police Chief Jeff Myers says “it is a great opportunity to see what we can get done in an hour or so with the staff who are actually on duty. When a real incident happens, we must make due with the people available- this drill will be the same.”
As of today, 560 thousand people are registered for the drill in Washington, over 12 thousand in Grays Harbor and 5 thousand in Pacific County.
