January 29, 2013

The Hoquiam City Council passed a resolution that will require the use of the federal E-verify program to verify that each employee of a contractor and sub contractor are legally authorized to work in the United States.

The council passed the resolution unanimously. E-verify is a federal program that allows employers to check the validity of a person’s social security number. E-verify is a cost free internet based program operated by the Department of Homeland Security in partnership with the Social Security Administration.
