Vehicle Thefts Increase in East Grays Harbor County

The Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Office tells KXRO that recently there has been an increase in vehicle thefts and attempted vehicle thefts in the East County area.

Over the weekend, deputies responded to a vehicle theft complaint in the 1100 block of Monte Elma Road. A dark blue Mazda pickup had been stolen sometime during the previous evening. It appeared that someone pushed the vehicle out of the driveway before taking it away.

Chief Criminal Deputy Steve Shumate told KXRO that on Monday morning, deputies responded to two different residences inside the City of Satsop regarding a vehicle theft and an attempted vehicle theft.

In the 500 block of Market Street in Satsop, there was an attempt to steal a 1985 Chevrolet Blazer from the victim’s driveway. The suspects punched the ignition and then towed the vehicle out of the driveway however were not able to unlock the steering wheel and left the vehicle in the roadway.

Shortly following, Shumate says that it appears likely the same suspect or suspects stole a Chevrolet pickup from the 300 block of 4th Street in Satsop.
