Crude Oil a Topic During Telephone Town Hall

February 28, 2013

Residents who live in the 19th Legislative District took part in a one-hour telephone town on Wednesday with their state legislators.

State Representatives Brian Blake and Dean Takko and with Senator Brian Hatfield took questions from residents on topics including economic issues, mental health, 2nd amendment rights, and other budget issues.

Town hall caller Cassie called and asked about crude oil coming to the Port of Grays Harbor and Senator Hatfield said that he agrees with bringing more work to the port.

Three proposals to bring crude oil to the port have received mixed reviews locally. Opponents of the plans cite environmental concerns, while proponents say that bringing the industry to the port is good for the area.
