D&R To Reopen Monday
John Yonich as confirmed to KXRO News that he will re-open the D&R Theatre on Monday as well as Scoops and Backstage Espresso. A free show is in the works as a thank you to Grays Harbor for their support during the closure and Scoops will also be adding a yogurt machine.
Yonich says he feels that he is finally being heard and supported by State, County and City officials and that makes him comfortable with reopening the venue. He says there is now a team in place that he feels will lead to a successful operation for the theatre.
Yonich has received great community support as well with over 2,000 encouraging emails. He says this was never a publicity stunt. This was about being treated fairly and equally and the designation from the Aberdeen Historic Preservation Commission regarding taxes of the property was also very encouraging.
Yonich says as long as the theatre is supported it will stay open. Some of the entertainment under contract is Jesse Cook, Burton Cummings of the Guess Who, American Idol Scotty McCreary, country singer Josh Turner, Montgomery Gentry and 80’s rockers Whitesnake.
Yonich is also working on a deal to acquire and renovate the Mork Hotel. That process is underway.
